Pelican Fest
Celebrate the annual return of the American White Pelicans and other migrating birds to the Rock River by attending Rockton Pelican Fest on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
Located in Downtown Rockton
Together, the Natural Land Institute, the Sinnissippi Audubon Society, the Village of Rockton and JR Finally Art Studio & Gallery present a day filled with activities and sights sure to delight everyone. Learn about and meet some interesting birds while visiting several educational/environmental booths. Stroll along the historic streets, shops and restaurants of downtown Rockton for an entertaining day.
Stateline Mass Transit District will be providing free shuttle bus service from Rockton to the Nygren Wetland Preserve Wildlife Overlook throughout the festival time. There you will be greeted by a knowledgeable volunteer to talk about birds and other wildlife.
For you birders: Don’t miss the Early Bird Walk at 7:30 a.m. meeting at the Nygren Wetland Wildlife Overlook (3714 W. Rockton Rd., Rockton, IL) presented by Sinnissippi Audubon Society.

Mabon Celebration with Emmanuel Lutheran
Celebrate the abundance of harvest season with an inclusive, inter-faith event hosted by Emmanuel Lutheran at Severson Dells Nature Center. Engage in ceremony, wander through the woods, create cute fall charms, and enjoy a harvest potluck. We'll spend some time outside and some time inside, so dress for the weather! Folks of all spiritual paths are welcome to attend and we are happy to answer any questions you may have in advance.
We ask that attendees bring an item from the garden or other food to share in a potluck. Recommended donation is $10 a person, although monetary donations are not an expectation and should not restrict people from participating. Donations go toward supporting future Wheel of the Year celebrations!
Alfalfa Festival
Join us at the 2nd annual Alfalfa Festival, August 24th from 2pm - 10pm. A gathering of LIVE music, friends, and fun in support of Farmers Rising's Education Programming! Enjoy an afternoon and evening with LIVE music at the Rainbow Pavilion stage, overlooking the lush alfalfa fields and tranquil Kinnikinnick Creek that flows through the grounds.
